If you’ve been following Selflessly Styled for a while, you already know that I’m really enamored with Vetta as a sustainable and ethical brand. From wearing only their 5 piece Minimalist Capsule for 30 days straight to styling their casual pieces on the road, I’ve had the privilege of trying many of their designs and watching the brand grow and grow.

A few weeks ago, they launched their latest capsule: The Edgy Capsule. To be honest, while I was excited (as always) about another Vetta reveal, I was a little unsure that they could come up with anything that would blow my mind since I felt they’d already explored nearly every possible way to create innovative designs that can be worn multiple ways. I should’ve known better.

Vetta generously offered to send me two pieces to test before the launch, and I selected The Blazer Dress and the Cropped Mock Neck Sweater. I’ve been wearing these items for nearly a full month which has given me time to truly test the quality and the versatility.

The Blazer Dress

This piece might be the most impressive design I’ve tried from Vetta, and that’s saying a lot. This three-in-one little number can be worn with sleeves as a traditional long blazer, without sleeves (yeah, they zip off. #mindblown) as an open vest, or closed as a dress.

Sometimes I find that when a garment can be worn in more than one way, it doesn’t really “nail it” in any of the ways it can be worn due to compromises that allow versatility. That is not the case with this item; I find that the sleeves look quite seamless when attached and you can’t even see the zipper.

This item is made from deadstock fabric (yay!) and they’ve already sold out of the plaid print which I am wearing, however it’s also available in black which looks so lovely and was a hard choice for me!

Fit + Design

I am 5’8” 140 lbs and wearing a size small. I find that it fits quite true to size and the sleeves are the perfect length. It has an internal set of buttons to ensure it stays nice and closed when you’re wearing it as a dress. I opt to add an undershirt when styling this as a dress for work because the neckline plunges a bit further than I am comfortable with in a professional setting.

Who should buy this

This piece is a working woman’s DREAM. If you prefer something a bit more structured and polished for your job, this is such a great option to add to your closet. Although the capsule is titled “edgy,” I find this piece to be quite classic in design. It’s professional without feeling stuffy and the fact that you can wear it three different ways ensures that it will be used no matter what the weather.

Who shouldn’t buy this

This isn’t a “lounging” piece by any means, if you’re in a stage of life or have a personal style that’s a mainly relaxed and athleisure-esque, I don’t think this would be the best investment for you. The versatility is only valuable if you’ll actually wear it all three ways and doesn’t help much if you’re only going to wear it on the occasional date night as opposed to integrating it into your regular outfit rotation.

The Mock Neck Sweater

Last year, I tried Vetta’s oversized sweater in black, and while it was excellent as far as quality and versatility are concerned, the size and length were a bit off for my preference (though perfect for others!). I was excited to try out this new design, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint.

It boasts a removable turtleneck and thumbholes for maximum coziness. The waffle knit texture is my personal favorite, and then Vetta went and made it even cooler by adding a zipper on each size of the sweater in case you want to open in for even more boxy glory!

The sleeves are more fitted than their oversized sweater and the cropped fit is oh-so flattering when paired with a pair of jeans or even over a jumpsuit! I’ve been wearing it both as a crew neck and a turtleneck all month long and don’t plan to stop anytime soon.

Fit + Design

I am 5’8” 140 lbs and wearing a size small. The sleeves are the perfect length for me, which is especially important since this piece has those darling little thumbholes! The cropped and boxy fit makes it really flattering and unaffected by weight fluctuations.

Who should buy this

This piece is especially nice for those who have a love-hate relationship with turtlenecks (i.e. me). I love the look of a cozy turtleneck some days, but have to be in the right mood, right hair, right everything in order to wear one. That’s why I love this mock neck style so much: it gives me options! The body of the sweater is an especially a great cut for those who feel a bit “blobby” in sweaters that are super oversized. (Note: I promise you don’t look “blobby.” You’re beautiful. But, I know that an oversized sweater can feel “blobby” depending on your body type! That’s why I love cropped sweaters like this one!)

Who shouldn’t buy this

If you haven’t bought into the glory of high-waisted pants and prefer a lower rise, you might find this sweater a little too short for your wardrobe. (But, let me take this opportunity to try higher-waisted pants right now because they’re a game changer.) Also, this goes without saying, but if you live somewhere that’s perpetually hot, your pennies are probably better spent on something other than a sweater.
