Vetta's Casual Capsule: A Real Life Review + Our Weekend in Bend
I've said it before, I'll say it again: I've got a big 'ole crush on Vetta. Whenever I hear they're coming out with a new capsule, I get those giddy little butterflies in my stomach and count down the days until it's released. Am I revealing my ethical fashion nerdiness? Whoops.
Their most recent capsule, The Casual Capsule, boasts five versatile pieces as usual. Unlike my last review of Vetta (in which I wore five items for an entire month), I am only wearing three pieces from this new capsule... read on for my very honest opinion of each of them!
The Peg Pant
HOW IT WORKS
The peg pant is pretty standard when it comes to styling options. The versatility comes from the fact that it's a classic black trouser which can be worn with pretty much anything. There is a removable black belt which does give you something to switch up if you feel the need!
OVERALL IMPRESSION
I love the high-waisted silhouette of these, they feel like something Audrey Hepburn would have been spotted wearing during her escapades in Roman Holiday. They've got roomy front pockets and can easily be dressed up or down. I was pleasantly surprised at how thick the fabric is, the cotton is very sturdy and feels more like denim than linen if we're talking about a spectrum of sturdiness. The one downside to the fabric is that it collects dust pretty easily and I've had to lint roll mine frequently. Still, that's not a huge deal to me.
NOTES ON SIZING
I am wearing a size 4 and am 5' 8" 140 lbs and typically wear a pant size 27. I would say these fit true to size.
WHO SHOULD BUY It
I think these are a perfect investment to be worn to work. They're more formal than jeans, but still can be work on the weekend! Ladies looking for a classic understated pant are sure to love these. I personally love the fit as someone who has wider hips and a smaller waist.
WHO SHOULDN'T BUY IT
High-waisted pants like these aren't ideal for a maternity wardrobe, so if you're expecting, maybe hold off until later for these! Also, I have found that high-waisted pants aren't a favorite for my friends who tend to carry more weight around the middle with smaller hips. It's really a personal preference though. If you are constantly around furry creatures, be advised that you'll need to keep a lint roller nearby for these!
HOW IT WORKS
Ok, now we get into Vetta's jaw-dropping versatility. This top can be worn as a traditional button-down, spun around with the buttons in the back, tied for a crop top look (pictured here!), or even worn open as a light overcoat. It comes in a navy wash or stripes. I personally opted for the stripes, but it was a really hard choice! I think both are equally classy and versatile to add to one's closet.
OVERALL IMPRESSION
You know it'a a great garment when you find yourself thinking, "When this wears out in a few years, how am I possibly going to find anything so perfect to replace it?" Seriously, this shirt checks all of my boxes. The tencel fabric (one of my favorite materials) makes it easy to style on hot days, but also looks totally natural under a coat for cooler weather. The buttons are secure and feel like they will hold up to a lot. This has quickly become one of my go-to tops even after only owning it for a couple weeks.
NOTES ON SIZING
I am wearing a size small and am 5' 8" 140 lbs. This top fits true to size and is intentionally a bit loose. From my experience with previous Vetta tops, I feel that they've improved on the sizing in the bust. Perhaps it's just the new silhouette, but this fits true to size, whereas previous tops felt a bit tight around the chest.
WHO SHOULD BUY It
Anyone looking for a collarless button up that transitions nicely from work to play will love this top! The loose arms are flattering on everyone and it's a wonderful piece for anyone who lives in a fickle climate like I do!
WHO SHOULDN'T BUY IT
The top does have a pretty deep v-neck, so bustier ladies who want more coverage may want to look elsewhere (or layer up!)
HOW IT WORKS
This Apron Jumpsuit can be worn three different ways (and that's before we include the layering option!). You can loosely tie it in the back (pictured here) for a backless summer look. You can wrap it for more coverage in the back (which allows a bra to be worn and concealed), or you can knot it up a third way seen on Vetta's site!
OVERALL IMPRESSION
Oh boy. I love this one. The thick straps and weighty material allow me to wear it sans-bra (though that's not something everyone is comfortable with) when I'm wearing the open back. The wide-leg silhouette makes it super classy and a bit dressier than most of my other jumpsuits. The tencel used for this piece is almost velvety, it's so soft! I wore this comfortably for hours in the car driving to Bend last weekend, and then popped out and went straight to a nice lunch and felt the fabric looked excellent after sitting in it for so long. Fabric that travels well is very important to me, and this beauty shakes out wrinkles so nicely!
NOTES ON SIZING
I am wearing a size small and am 5' 8" 140 lbs. wearing a size 4 in the jumpsuit. It's a little loose around my waist, but I don't think I could go down a size because getting it over my booty would be a struggle. I would say it fits true to size, I just have a severe size difference between my waist/ribs and my hips.
WHO SHOULD BUY It
This is a great item for ladies who need something that can be worn to work and go out for drinks after! Although the capsule is "casual" I think this piece is really elevated and elegant!
WHO SHOULDN'T BUY IT
I don't think this piece is very nursing-friendly, so new mamas may want to wait. Also, note that you'll only be able to wear the jumpsuit styled one way (the more covering wrap) without a bra showing. So, if you always wear a bra and don't want it to show, you'll have to stick to that one style, or layer a shirt under this (which actually looks super cute!) - just something to think about.
The three pieces for a weekend away...
We spent last weekend in beautiful Bend, Oregon. I only packed the these three Vetta items along with an overcoat for chilly evenings and these Nisolo block heels. How's that for packing light?! The versatility was perfect. From lunch meetings, to photo shoots, to hitting the town for dinner out, next-morning brunching, and adventures in the woods on our leisurely drive home... I had everything I needed. Comfortable and chic, what more can a girl ask for?

I was gifted these items from Vetta, however I was not monetarily compensated in any way for this post and all opinions are my own! The link to Nisolo heels is an affiliate link, so I will receive a small commission if you make a purchase of those shoes using it! I will always be honest with you.
